The journey of the Tibet Everest Base Camp Tour starts with the splendid Mountain View kind of flight to Lhasa from Kathmandu. You can see mountains like Kanchenjunga, Everest and Makalu as well as other Himalayas during flight hours. Because of the airplane transportation the body needs to adjust to the new altitude.

The side hiking or visiting tour of the iconic places of Lhasa takes place. The visit of the legendary Potala Palace in the heart of the Lhasa can be the ultimate prize of the tour. The excursion in the Sera and Drepung monasteries could act very informative as these are the world’s largest monasteries institutions of the world too. Passing by the gorgeous Turquoise Lake the journey heads towards Gyantse. The place is famous for the Kumbum Stupa.

The city of Shigats after Gyantse is another highlight of the tour. Shigatse has the memorial of Chorten and Tashilungpo monastery. From there the journey halts in old Tingri to meet the trekking crew members. The hike towards Everest Base Camp takes place from Old Tingri passing by the Rongbuk Monastery and Langma La Pass. You can observe the Rongbuk Glacier and northern side of Everest Base Camp. The journey then ends in Chinese side after drive back to Kerung border in Rasuwa district of Nepal.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Lhasa (3,650m/11,972ft)

The flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa or from your home country will take place in the first day with the magnificent view of the Everest, Kanchenjunga and other Himalayas from airplane. Upon arrival in Lhasa Bharal Adventure representative will introduce you to Tibetan guide and transfer you to the hotel. Abundance of the rest is required as you might catch with the altitude sickness.

Day 2 : Lhasa sightseeing: Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace and Tibet Museum: 5 – 6 hours

After breakfast the iconic places of the Lhasa will be visited on this day. The visit of the Potala Palace and Norbulinka Palaces in Lhas could be mystical atmosphere. The palace was built during 17th century and can have the view of entire Lhasa city. Norbulinka used to be the summer home of Dalai Lama. The visit of Tibet museum is the last activity for the day.

Day 3 : Lhasa Sightseeing: Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Bazaar: 5 – 6 hours

On this day after breakfast sightseeing will be done on Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery and Barkhor Bazaar. Drepung was built around 14th century. It is believed that it used to have the shelter for around 10000 monks. Sera Monastery is the sacred site where you can find the information about the mysteries of Tibetan culture and Buddhism as well. Barkhor Bazaar is very happening place with open stalls, pilgrim’s crowd and it is also regarded as the nerve of Lhasa.

Day 4 : Lhasa to Gyantse (3,950m/12,956ft): 5 – 6 hours

The scenic and mesmerizing drive will take you to Gyantse. Crossing of the Khamba La Pass and the short halt to view the Turquoise Lake which is the sacred Lake of Tibet can be amazing. You can also have view of Nazin Sang glacier followed by the crossing of Karo La Pass. In Gyantse the sightseeing can be done in Khumbum Stupa, Gyantse Dzong and Phalkot Monastery.

Day 5 : Gyantse to Shigatse (3,900m/12,795 ft): 2 hours

Shigatse is the second largest city of Tibet where we will visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery. This is very historically significant monastery of Tibet. It was founded by the first Dalai Lama in 1447 and his name is Gendun Drup.

Day 6 : Shigatse to Rongbuk (5,000m/16,400ft) via Sakya: 8 – 9 hours

From Shigatse we head towards Rongbuk. On the way to Rongbuk the visit of Sakya Monastery which is the temple of Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The visit of the Rongbuk Monastery on the foothill of Mt. Everest can be amazing with the spectacular view of Mountains and Himalayas.

Day 7 : Rongbuk to Lhasa with a visit to the Everest Base Camp: 9-10 hours

We will have to leave Rongbuk early in the morning to visit the Everest Base Camp. The view of Cho Oyu, Shishapangma and others can be seen on the way. If weather permits we can drive to the camp and make 16 km of round trip or we will have to make short hiking too. After visiting the EBC we head straight to Lhasa. This could be long drive back to Lhasa and we have to catch up with the itinerary.

Day 8 : Final Departure

Bharal Adventure team will bid farewell to you from Lhasa or you can take flight to Kathmandu for further trip with us. You will have amazing memory travelling with us.
