Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Reaching Kathmandu (1400 meters/4593 feet)

The guests shall be greeted by a representative of Bharal Adventure who is responsible for taking them to their hotel upon their arrival. The dinner comprising of authentic Nepali food is the preliminary firsthand experience of the Nepali culture that the company offers you.

Day 2 : Trek planning and a visit of three temples (1400 meters, or 4593 feet)

After breakfast, a guided tour of Kathmandu's historically and spiritually significant sites is planned. These sites include Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath. A pre-trip discussion session will be organized in the afternoon to facilitate communication between the trek leader, staff, and visitors.

Day 3 : Travel by flight to Bhadrapur, then by road to Taplejung (1820 meters/5971 feet; 8–9 hours)

From Kathmandu, we'll board an early departure to Bhadrapur. We'll take a position and head to Taplejung (1820 meters/5971 feet) from Bhadrapur. To get to Taplejung, we will go via scenic locations like Birtamod, Illam, Jorpokhari, Amarpur, etc. and cross the Kabeli Khola Bridge.

Day 4 : Taplejung to Sekathum (1650 meters; 5413 feet; 39 kilometers; 24.23 miles; 5–6 hours by car)

We start our five to six hour trip from Taplejung to Sekathum, which is roughly 39 kilometers distant. On our travel, we can come across some twisting and tight roads. We'll go via a number of communities and have our permits checked at the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area checkpoint. After crossing a few bridges and continuing down the Tamor Nadi, we will ultimately arrive in Sekathum.

Day 5 : Hike 5 to 6 hours from Sekathum to Amjilosa (2498m/8195ft, 9km/5.59miles)

Today is the first day of our trip to Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. We start our journey from Sekathum to Amjilosa by passing many suspension bridges and wandering through groves of rhododendron. We will arrive in Amjilosa after walking up and down hills as well as through a few small communities in five to six hours. 

Day 6 : Trekking 4.66 miles (4–5 hours) from Amjilosa to Gyabla (2725 meters; 8920 feet; 7 kilometers)

We will trek down the Ghunsa Khola riverbank to Amjilosa, leaving Sekathum behind. There's a very small probability that we'll see a red panda when we go down the woodland path. We may enjoy a breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains as we stroll along the route. Depending on our walking speed, it will take us four to five hours to get to Gyabla/Kyapra village, where we spend the night. 

Day 7 : Gyabla to Ghunsa is a 3415-meter (11204-foot) trip that takes 5 hours by road.

We shall go on on our way to Ghunsa after breakfast. The trail traces the path through the woodlands. Trekkers heading to and from Pangpema, Kanchenjunga North Base Camp, might be spotted. On the journey to Ghunsa, we may come across Himalayan yaks pulling loads both up and down. We finally arrive in Ghunsa, our day's target, after walking for almost five hours.

Day 8 : Ghunsa to Khambachen (4145m/13599ft, 10km/6.21 mi, 5–6 hours hike)

Trekkers acclimate to the altitude at Ghunsa before continuing on to Dudh Kunda or Ghunsa Viewpoint. However, we will walk through the open pine forest on our journey to Khambachen after breakfast. We will arrive at Khambachen after passing via the villages of Rambuk Kharka and Lyakep and taking in the views of Jannu (7711m.|25298ft.), Temachungi (6305m.|20685ft.), Pholesobi Thongje (6652m.|21824ft.), and many more.

Day 9 : Acclimatization and Rest Day

The start of our stay at Khambachen has been booked for today. The settlement provides a breathtaking perspective of Nupchu, the Jannu, Nagphu, and Sarphu mountains, among many others. You may take a relaxing walk around Khambachen town, trek to Janu Viewpoint or Nupchu Pokhari (4952m/16246ft).

Day 10 : Chambachen to Lhonak (4–5 hours of trekking)4792 meters/15721 feet (10 km/6.21 miles)

We will approach the Kanchenjunga North Base Camp by following a path along the Ghunsa Khola riverbank. Arriving to Ramdang (4375 meters/14353 feet), we are rewarded by breathtaking views of Gimmigela, Ramtang, Kanchenjunga, and many more mountains. We will arrive at Lhonak by trekking along Kanchanjunga Glacier along the road that passes through Dry Lake. 

Day 11 : Trek to the base camp of Kanchenjunga North (Pang Pema) at 5,143 meters or 16873 feet, then return to Lhonak (9 km or 5.59 miles, 6 to 7 hours)

We will be in the base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third-highest peak in the world. We travel with breathtaking views of the mountains as we begin our day trek to Pang Pema, the base camp of Kanchenjunga North. We will head back to Lhonak after spending a few hours at the base camp with the prayer flags and the breathtaking views of the Himalayas.

Day 12 : Lhonak to Ghunsa (3415 meters or 11204 feet, 21 km or 13 miles, 7 to 8 hours)

After resuming our steps to reach the magnificent Kanchenjunga Base Camp, we will descend to Ghunsa. We will arrive in Ghunsa, enjoying the views of the mountains and rhododendron trees.

Day 13 : Ghunsa to Sekathum (1650 meters or 5413 feet, 6 to 7 hours) 

We're going to hike downhill to Sekathum today. We shall start our journey earlier because the walk is lengthier. We will arrive to Sekathum by traveling along the Ghunsa Khola bank and passing Phale, Gyabala, Amjilosa, and Ghaiyabari. On our trip to Sekathum, there are severe ascents and descents as well as stone stairs.

Day 14 : Drive time: 6 to 7 hours from Sekathum to Kanyam, Ilam (1210 meters/3969 feet)

We will board our jeep and head to Kanyam, Ilam, the tea-growing region, leaving the mountains behind, bringing with us the memories and the refreshing winds. In Kanyam, there is a significant concentration of domestic visitors.

Day 15 : Drive from Ilam to Bhadrapur, then take a late-afternoon flight (1400 meters; 4593 feet) back to Kathmandu.

After spending some time in the tea growing region, we will drive to Bhadrapur Airport. We fly from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu in the late afternoon, taking around 45 to 50 minutes. We'll drive together to the lodging. 

Day 16 : Final Departure

The airport representative from Bharal Adventure will transport you to Kathmandu International Airport around 3 hours before your scheduled flight from where you will depart.
